What I am currently loving/ New Music Monday

I found most recently that music is expectationally good in a need to escape, take a break from the world and find yourself somewhere else. That's sort of obvious and what probably a lot of people do, but I have found myself escaping to music more often than not recently so I have been listening to a lot of new music, not just new bands but bands I love that have brought new stuff out.
A good example to start off with is:

Alt-J

From the moment they released 'Hunger Of The Pine' it sounded different, a sort of different feel from there previous stuff. Then followed their other EP's 'Every Other Freckle' and 'Left Hand Free' which again completely differed from each other, no lie i have constantly had them on repeat since they released them. Which got me excited for more from them. Good news is they have released their new album which is out today!! I have had a listen through it already and am awaiting my chance to run to HMV and by the nearest copy. I suggest you do the same, oh and my favourite? 'Every Other Freckle' just sayin.

Adult Jazz

A band that I have been forcing upon my Boyfriend since the moment I listened to them. (He doesn't seem so keen) but don't let that put you off. This band is something special. New, experimental and a completely new sound. Think Dan Croll crossed with a bit of say Dog Is Dead? and Bombay. You sort of have Adult Jazz. Now let me first thank HMV for playing these in my local shop and a little help from Shazam I discovered these. They're just the perfect relaxing band to listen to in the morning or before bed say, or just whenever you like. I'm a little obsessed I had to drag myself away, his vocals are beautiful, Springful and Donne Tongue are current faves.

Royal Blood

Now I know you probably have heard a lot about these, there has been so much hype around them but to be completely honest, rightly so?! The riffs and compete heavy, rocky just ugh amazing guitar music these have a pretty special future. They're perfect for when your feeling mad or need a bit of a pick me up. I've found these playing a lot, and don't be put off initially if this isn't you sort of thing, especially if your not into really heavy stuff like me, they are REALLY good.

Childhood

I think these sort of rounded my summer off for me, when i heard 'As I Am' I completely and utterly fell in love. The vocals and just absolute gorgeousness of this song made me smile, they're summery and happy. And back to what I was saying earlier, these are a band to completely submerse and lose yourself in.

SW/MM/NG

Are a band I've just literally come across recently again they're another summery band, the type that I love listening to, although I haven't had a proper good listen to them yet I was instantly drawn to them which is quite rare for me. I 100% thought they were worth a mention.

Glass Animals

I think I mentioned these in the last post but my god these have been on repeat CONSTANTLY. I bloody love them, which is a big thing. It takes me a while to utterly fall in love with a band and these have just easily made it onto my list. They music just oozes this dance-y sort of sexiness, I know that is a terrible description but if you listen to them you will hear that (I hope or you'll just think I'm weird) They just have so many different sounds/noses in there music that interests me so much. Also there album art is gorgeous so if you are a fan of that or collecting vinyl's that is another very good reason to buy their album. I love 'Pools' SO summery and 'Gooey' is also a favourite.

So that's all from me, hope you've enjoyed this post! Until next time, take care!

New Music Monday

I had a little bit of spare time last Monday which I don't usually get to go and browse some music videos and new music. So I'm really excited to share with you some bands that I'm into at the moment and just some songs that are on constant repeat.
I'm also not sure whether to 'New Music Monday' a feature on my blog but its definitely something I'd like to do in order to share bands and new music with you all to enjoy.

So just a short post really but hopefully you can give them a listen and let me know what you think, again I've made a Spotify playlist which I've linked below for you to just click straight on and listen to the artists.
Please also let me know if you'd like me to create YouTube playlists for those of you who don't use Spotify!

I'm planning on doing a spotlight appearance on Glass Animals in a upcoming post as I'm completely loving their stuff at the moment.
Until next time though, enjoy!

The Ultimate Summer Playlist

I figured what with the weather being absolutely beautiful at the moment, we are pretty much slap bang in the middle of summer and whether it be a road trip, lazing at home or in the park. You always need the right soundtrack right? Well I have put together what I've called 'The Ultimate Summer Playlist' which really means a playlist with  quite a lot songs on it. The list above are mostly songs I've been loving at the moment and also more of the 'less obvious' ones so hopefully there might be some new bands/artist in there for you to check out (by the way I recommend checking them all out)
And.. to save hours of trailing through playlists I've had put all the songs and a hell of a lot more into a playlist on Spotify just for you lovely lot to have a listen to.

Which on the subject of it, the Spotify account I have created the playlist on is where you will find all the playlists I have created on here. So to be sure you don't miss one you can follow me on there just by clicking here my username is: followthesuntillnight

Anyway that's all from me, let me know if you listen to any of the songs I'd love to hear opinions and any other sorts of things you'd like to see on here I'm open to suggestions!
Take care!

Hello (and a little get to know me)

You would believe how happy I am to finally be writing this first post for this blog. For months now I've been debating starting a music blog to which I kept putting off but I feel now as if the times right.
Some of you I believe may of followed me from my fashion blog over at Held Together By Pins where I did plan on writing separate music posts but this way I felt it would keep things more organised and allow me to take a different approach. Others may just be coming across this blog being an avid music lover like myself. To whom reading this hello, and welcome!

So this is of course my first post, I was going to leave it a quick hello but I thought a nice introduction should be in order (plus I'm in writing mood, bonus!)
My heart lies with indie/alternative music (more alternative my boyfriend likes to point out I'm often found dancing/singing to upbeat sometimes 80's style sounds) in summary I love music with a good summery/dancy vibe to it.
So this post I wanted to share with you my favourite bands, songs and the sort of stuff I'm into at the moment.

My Favourite Song

Empire Of The Sun- We are the people

I think listening to this song was the first time I fell in love with music properly. This song always has and always will remain my favourite song, which to some people may sound silly. I often ask people their favourite song and they cant choose but this will always hold happy memories and always make me think of summer every time I hear it. Empire of the sun are also one of my favourite bands I've stood by the stuff they've produced and followed their side projects: Lukes- The Sleepy Jackson and Nicks- PNAU.

My Favourite Band/ First Band I seen live.

Foals

Foals were hands down the first band I became irrevocably obsessed with. Olympic Airways was the first song I ever heard from them; its my favourite song of theirs, Again a summery song, beautiful soft lyrics from the lead singer Yannis and equally as beautiful guitar riffs. This also happens to be the first band I ever seen live.
Let this be a disclaimer to all those reading I will probably mention Foals quite a bit, I love the band, the members, the song EVERYTHING. So for me they are my favourite band.

Currently listening to:

(A LOT of) London Grammar

Currently I am obsessed with these you will of probably heard them with their single Strong. I didn't initially get into them until recently when I seen them at Parklife. I listened to them quite a bit in the lead up to it and after seeing them I think it sort of ignited my love for them. Hannah's voice is hauntingly beautiful throughout all their songs, and all so peacefully relaxing. I think even though I've included it below you can't get London Grammar on Spotify but if you do get chance have a listen on somewhere like YouTube.

Bands that hold wonderful gig memories

Two Door Cinema Club

I seen Two Door Cinema Club last year (feels like ages ago) I have said till this day it was one of the best gig experiences of my life, not only was the gig beautiful, full of so many lovely fans and just a wonderful atmosphere not to mention the big white balloons they let off. But I also met Alex Trimble afterwards not planned in any way, it involved me diving out of a moving car shouting 'Oh my god, that Alex' before he signed my ticket and allowed me to take a photo with him, even after I told him an embarrassing story ( I have no idea, I was SO nervous) that part I wont be sharing though.

Crystal Fighters

Crystal Fighters also left me leaving the gig in a completely different head space, I don't know what it is about this band but they've always held the ability to make me feel happy, instantly. The gig was just full of so much warmness and honestly you haven't lived if you haven't experienced a Crystal Fighters gig, but maybe that's just me being bias I could just ooze love for this band.

So that is all from me, I look forward to posting more on this blog I have so many ideas just bursting out of my brain that I want to share but right now I'd love some feedback and thank you ever so much for reading.
